This date is not necessarily the legal start of the limitation period.
Optional confirmed rule

Leave these blank unless the applicable law and start date have been confirmed.

Why last payment is not enough

The governing state law, contract, debt classification, accrual date, acceleration, prior lawsuit, judgment and events that pause or restart a period can change the analysis. Where you live today is not always the only relevant jurisdiction. Credit-reporting periods are a separate question.

What this tool can tell you

Without a confirmed rule, the result is a review checklist and a state-resource route, not a yes/no decision. With your confirmed inputs it calculates an anniversary only. It does not decide whether a claim is barred, whether a defense must be raised, or whether paying would revive liability.

Before paying or acknowledging an old debt

Get the agreement, payment history, notices and any court record. Ask appropriate legal help about your state’s law before making a new promise. Do not ignore a served lawsuit even when a debt appears old.
