Who is promising what, in which capacity?
Read the promise, not only the signature line
A personal guarantee asks a signer to take responsibility for payment. An undertaking to handle a resident’s available funds can impose a different responsibility. The actual wording, signing capacity and applicable law matter.
Before signing or responding to a demand, identify whose money is involved, what the signer promised to do and whether personal payment is being demanded. Obtain qualified help when a facility claims you owe the resident’s bill.
